A new climate satellite is launched by NASA

NASA launched BASE, a new climate satellite, on February 8, 2024, with the goal of thoroughly studying the world's oceans and atmosphere. SpaceX's Vulcan rocket lifted the satellite into orbit from the Cape Canaveral launch site. For around three years, it will monitor the oceans and atmosphere while ascending 420 miles above Earth. Two of the three scientific instruments that are mounted on it will precisely scan the Earth each day. A third instrument is used to take readings every month. The satellite will provide a clearer image of the Earth than it has in the past, according to Project Scientist Jeremy Wardell. According to scientists, information from the satellite will improve their ability to forecast weather patterns and hurricanes, explain how Earth's temperature fluctuates with time, and anticipate the occurrence of hazardous algae blooms.
