Castration for sexual criminals

Madagascar, an island nation in East Africa, is seeing an increase in sex crimes committed against minors. 600 incidents of male and female rape were reported last year. January alone this year has seen 133 reports of girls and/or children being sexually assaulted.

The government of Madagascar has taken significant measures to deter sexual abuse against children and to stiffen penalties for those who commit such crimes, in response to the growing frequency of such incidents.

In light of this, the government of Madagascar has passed legislation that will castrate offenders who violate children's sexual rights.

Today, the parliament of Madagascar passed a law authorizing the chemical and surgical castration of criminals.

The nation's High Constitutional Court will validate the recently passed legislation before sending it to the President for ratification. The President's consent will be required for the Act to go into effect.
