More than 2000–3000 Chinese athletes will compete in the inaugural Chinese marathon in May of next year in Sri Lanka as part of the 'Ni Hao Chong Guo' project, according to President Shirantha Peiris of the Srilanka Tourism and Hotel Management Company.
In order to increase the number of Chinese visitors to Sri Lanka over the next two years, Shiranda Peiris, who recently visited the Chongqing Municipality in China, finalized an agreement under the Ni Hao Zhong Guo Project.
A Chinese athlete marathon is so scheduled to take place this May 1–3, inclusive. At Unawatuna Beach, there will be a seafood festival after this. Chalaka Gajapahu, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, has disclosed intentions to turn it into an annual occasion.
