India's UPI transactions are operational.

A deal will be struck to introduce the UPI payment system from India to Sri Lanka. For that, a video conference is under progress.

In order to introduce the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) services in Sri Lanka and Mauritius as well as the RuPay card services in Mauritius, President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, and Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jagannath recently began a video conference.

In the fields of fintech and digital public infrastructure, India is a leader. India's prime minister has made it clear that we want to share our inventions and development experiences with our sister nations.

This initiative aims to improve digital connectivity between countries and benefit a broad spectrum of people by providing a quick and easy digital transaction experience, taking into account India's strong cultural and people-to-people ties with both Sri Lanka and Mauritius.

The program makes UPI settlement services available to citizens of Mauritius and India as well as those of India visiting Sri Lanka and Mauritius.

Notable is the fact that the expansion of RuPay card services in Mauritius allows Mauritian banks to issue cards that are based on the RuPay system there and permits RuPay cards to be used in both Mauritius and India.
