It's longer difficult for workers in Canada and Britain to bring a spouse.

Many Western countries have changed their visa policies. Countries like Canada, Britain, France, and Australia have tightened laws and regulations for immigrants to obtain different types of visas.
Canada and Britain have announced that they are tightening visa requirements for spouses. As a result, it may become difficult for workers in those countries to bring their spouses with them.

Many Indians are trying to immigrate to Canada from Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Punjab, and other states in India.

Thus, visas are required for spouses to take their spouses and children abroad. Different countries take different times to get a spouse visa.

A spouse visa is a type of dependent visa or permit. It allows you to live in that particular country.

Both the applicant and the dependent must be over 18 years of age to obtain a Spouse Visa. Apart from this, both should have a marriage certificate.

In addition, each country sets a minimum annual income for the sponsoring partner. Each country has a different amount. This may vary.

Apart from this, the sponsoring partner should have adequate arrangements to live with his spouse.

The dependent spouse must also successfully pass a recognized English language test.

Apart from this, salary certificates, bank details, valid passport documents, and marriage certificates are required for a spouse visa. If divorced, a divorce certificate and children's details are also required.

An important point here is that different countries have different rules for filing documents.

Gurpreet Singh, Managing Director of 'Direct Visa' said, "To get Spouse Visa, one is the applicant and the other is the dependent. The applicant can apply only if his/her spouse fulfills certain conditions. The requirements may be different for different countries. Different countries have different time limits for Spouse visas. Let's take time," he said.

It takes eight to nine months to a year to apply for and receive a spouse visa in Canada. However, it was later reduced to seven months, then to six months, and finally to two months.

In some cases, these visas are issued within a month.

However, the Canadian government has decided that only international students studying for a master's or doctoral degree can use a spouse visa to invite their spouse.

Students studying lower courses cannot bring their spouses to Canada on this visa.

Additionally, the sponsoring partner must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. He must prove that they are not receiving social assistance for reasons other than disability.

He has to meet the financial needs of his spouse for three years.

Canada's IRCC Minister Miller says, “Canada's large number of students has had a huge impact on housing, health and other facilities. Our effort is to ensure that the students who come here do not fall into the trap of evil forces and that the population of Canada grows steadily,” he said.

Speaking to BBC about this new rule, Gurpreet Singh said, “The Government of Canada has taken this decision. But it has not been implemented yet. So there is still time for people to apply before the rules come into force,” he said.

Britain has also tightened the rules for obtaining spouse visas. The British government hopes that such tough laws will reduce the number of immigrants coming to the country.

The BBC's Chelsea Ward and Victoria Shear say that from April 2024 there have been some changes to pay rules for those who want to bring their spouse to Britain on their visa.

Previously, the minimum annual income to apply for a sponsor partner, and spouse visa in the UK was £18,600. However, the new rules will increase this minimum annual income to £29,000 in April 2024 and £34,500 by the end of the year. This minimum income will finally be raised to £38,700 at the start of 2025.

Governments of other countries are also constantly changing their rules and making these rules more stringent, says Gurpreet Singh.
