Shahbaz Sharif is the new prime ministerial candidate of Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif declared that he would designate his daughter Maryam Nawaz as Punjab's chief minister and his son Shebaz Sharif as Pakistan's next prime minister candidate. Following his withdrawal from the prime ministerial contest, Pakistan People's Party president Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari made the statement.
Which party will form the government and who will be Pakistan's next prime minister remain mostly unclear even after five days of dramatic general elections.

Surprisingly, 101 independent candidates backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party became victorious in the elections, despite the fact that former prime minister Imran Khan was imprisoned and his party was banned from running in multiple instances.

With 75 seats gained, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Party, led by three-time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, is ranked second. Pakistan's formidable military supports the party.

The Pakistan People's Party, led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, is now in third place with 54 seats won. The remaining seats have been taken by smaller parties.

No party was able to secure the 133 seats needed to form a government. The creation of a coalition government has been compelled by this. However, the process of forming a new administration is taking longer than expected because political groups are unable to agree on anything.

According to Pakistan's Constitution, political parties have three weeks after election day to form the government. Thus, Nawaz Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Party and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's Pakistan People's Party are attempting to establish a coalition government.

On the question of who ought to be prime minister, the parties disagree. According to reports, Asif Ali Zardari, the father of Nawaz Sharif and a former Pakistani president, is keen to see his son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appointed as prime minister, while Nawaz Sharif is motivated to become prime minister for a fourth time.

The two parties were reportedly in disagreement about who would be nominated for important positions including finance minister, home minister, foreign minister, and chief minister of Punjab, Pakistan's largest province, in addition to the prime minister position.

Nawaz Sharif has declared that he will designate his daughter Maryam Nawaz as the Chief Minister of Punjab and his son Shebaz Sharif as the next prime minister candidate of Pakistan. Following his withdrawal from the prime ministerial contest, Pakistan People's Party president Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari made the statement.

According to Bilawal Bhutto, his party would back Nawaz even if it wasn't included in the next administration. Shebaz expressed gratitude to Bilawal and his dad, Asif Ali Zardari, for their backing of Nawaz Sharif. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz expressed gratitude to the parties for their backing of the coalition.

Bilawal, meanwhile, has stated that he would want to see his father, Asif Ali Zardari, return to the presidency.

Imran Khan disapproved of the notion of creating a coalition government in this situation with any of Pakistan's main political parties. In an attempt to establish a government with a smaller party, Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreeb-e-Insaf party has made it plain that should it fail to secure a majority, it will become the opposition.
