Shankar has aptly shown the societal ills and the average man's response to them in the film he made. In the movie Kaathalan, Bharatanatyam art was used as the backdrop for a story about the love between an ordinary man and the governor's daughter, which finally laid the stage for saving the populace from terrorism.
After producer K D Kunjumon chose Prabhu Deva to be the film's hero, Shankar set out to find the movie's heroine. Leading ladies in Tamil cinema desired roles in Shankar's films following the success of Gentleman, but Shankar passed on them in favor of a newbie.
At that point, Shankar met Nagma, who had previously worked as a model in Bollywood before acting in Telugu. He determined she was the movie Kaathalan's heroine just by looking at her. It is noteworthy that Nagma, who exhibited her acting prowess right from the start of Kaathalan, took home the Filmfare Award for the movie.
Leading Telugu actors like Venkatesh and Nagarjuna waited in line for a call sheet to be cast as Nagma in the movie following the success of Kaathalan. After starring in Baadsha alongside Rajinikanth, Villathi Villain alongside Sathyaraj, Mettukudi alongside Karthik, Janakiraman alongside Sarathkumar, and Citizen alongside Ajith, Nagma rose to prominence in Tamil cinema.
Actor Nagma, who has performed in numerous languages including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, and Bhojpuri, began her career in 2008 and has since ventured into politics and social activities. 48-year-old Nagma, who is still unmarried, has admitted to her supporters that she is content being single.
