The first player from the West Indies to be named ICC Player of the Year.

Shamar Joseph, a young pacer, became the first player from the West Indies to win the ICC Player of the Year title.

For his exceptional bowling performance during the Test series against Australia, he was given this award. With his outstanding bowling in the second Test, Shamar Joseph—who claimed five wickets in the opening innings of the first Test on his debut—aided the West Indies in making history. He is the recipient of the January ICC Player of the Month award in this instance.

Shamar Joseph made the following statement following his victory as the ICC Player of the Year: "It feels great to receive such an award on the world stage." I had a great time touring Australia with West Indies. Specifically, the second Test held at the Gabba held great significance. "In fact, I will never forget the second Test match of my lifetime," he remarked, adding that picking wickets to help the team win is fantastic.
