Administrator of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Samantha Power, has requested that the President take note of the strain that the Status Quo Protection Act is placing on the right to free speech and expression.

The study also mentions the possibility that foreign social networking businesses could face criminal prosecutions as a result of Sri Lanka's legal reform regulating online activity.
