26 people have died in Indonesia as a result of heavy rainfall.

 

There are now 26 people dead from landslides and torrential rains on the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

The Indonesian island of Sumatra has seen landslides and flash floods due to recent rains. As a result, flash floods in the West Sumatra region destroyed three houses and inundated more than 37,000 homes. There were 666 more damaged homes. Paddy crops covering 279 acres were flooded. There were multiple blackouts of electricity. 26 people have passed away, 2 have been hurt, and 11 are still unaccounted for.

Millions of people live along the river plains in Indonesia's hilly regions. Notably, during heavy rains, landslides and flash floods frequently happen here.
