A foreign tourist was killed in an elephant attack in Sri Lanka.

On March 14, 2024, a wild elephant assaulted an Italian tourist in the Komari district of Manachenai, resulting in his death.

An inquiry found that Italian tourist Zingino Paolo (50) and another tourist were attacked by an elephant while riding motorbikes in the Komaria area.

When the 1990 Ambulance Service took the injured to Pothuvil Adarsh Hospital, he was declared dead.

For a postmortem, the body has been sent to Ampara General Hospital.

The Officer-in-Charge of the Pothu police station is conducting investigations following the Superintendent of Police's orders.
