An aid vessel headed for Gaza.

A food-carrying ship sailed out of Cyprus, a foreshadowing of plans to transport supplies by water to Gaza, a war-torn territory.

Several nations, including the United States, are preparing to ship relief supplies to Gaza in response to concerns that they are currently being delivered to the Gaza population by air and land. Joe Biden, the nation's president, gave the US military orders last week to build a makeshift port in Gaza's coastal region for this reason.

On March 12, 2024, a ship from Spain's "Open Arms" program sailed for Gaza, carrying food supplies gathered by the World Food Kitchen (WCK) Foundation, a nonprofit founded by renowned American chef Jose Anders. The ship sailed from the European port of Larnaca, Cyprus, hauling a cargo cell that contained medications, protein-rich foods, and drinking water.

From the port to Gaza, it takes fifteen hours by water. However, because the ship carrying the cargo cell is moving slowly, it might take an additional two days to get to Gaza. Where exactly the ship will be brought to Gaza is still a mystery. Acknowledging the pressing dietary requirements of Gaza's population, the WCK Foundation vessel is transporting aid via a path that has been formally authorized by the European Commission. The Commission has not authorized the transfer of humanitarian supplies from Europe to Gaza since 2005.

The project has received the largest financial commitment from the United Arab Emirates. "With the Israeli army's approval": The WCK Foundation announced that it is constructing a port in the northern Gaza Strip out of the debris of structures destroyed by Israeli strikes. It is cooperating with other humanitarian organizations and operating with the Israeli army's approval. According to the foundation, it is being completed.

In October of last year, the Gaza Strip and its authorities entered Israel. Entered on the seventh, they slaughtered roughly 1,200 people. Following that, the Israeli army launched a series of fierce attacks in Gaza under the pretext of destroying the group. Furthermore, Israel has prohibited the entry of necessary supplies into the region. The Gaza region has experienced a serious food scarcity as a result. The UN and global human rights organizations are alerting people in Gaza to the possibility of widespread famine if current conditions persist.

In this instance, a ship carrying food and other relief supplies has sailed for Gaza for the first time. 67 persons perished in an attack on the first day of Ramadan. March 12, Gaza City: Israel attacked Gaza at the start of the fasting month of Ramadan, killing 67 Palestinians. On Monday, Palestinians started their fast. But that same day, the Israeli army also launched an assault on the Gaza Strip. In this, just the last day alone saw the deaths of 67 people.
