Despite the loss of life, the next goal is to protest within Indian territory - Sri Lanka Federation Vice-President

Francis Ratnakumar, the President of the Jaffna District Sea Workers Co-operative Societies Federation, stated that our campaign will be successful if the media brings attention to the injustices committed against our fishermen by Indian trawlers.
03.03.2024 Speaking to the media during the Black Flag demonstration against the disproportionate number of Indian fishermen moving from the Barudathura region to the Sri Lankan sea border, he made these remarks.

He continued,

We carried our black flag demonstration all the way to the Sri Lankan sea border to voice our concerns and disapproval of the irresponsible Indian fishermen who are destroying our livelihoods on a daily basis.

Prior to this, we spearheaded many demonstrations calling for the management of the invading Indian sailors, but they keep coming.

In this instance, we took out our black flag protest all the way to Sri Lanka's border to voice our disapproval and complaint.

This conflict is what we consider to be the first one. because we did not pursue the conflict all the way to the Indian border, but rather up to our maritime boundary.

We also don't fear going to the Indian border since we know what will happen there.

In response to our demands from yesterday, the governments of Sri Lanka and India ought to have acted appropriately.

He went on to say that if our protest failed, we would infiltrate India's border and continue it there, even if it resulted in casualties.
