On March 17, 2024, a volcano close to Grindavik, Iceland, exploded after becoming enraged over the previous few days. The volcano emits smoke that rises to the sky and flows with lava.
The fact that this volcano has erupted four times in the past three months is notable.
The Reykjanes peninsula has a gap in the ground between two mountains that is roughly three kilometers long, according to Iceland's Meteorological Agency.
The Meteorological Department alerted the public prior to the volcano's eruption. A large number of people were evacuated from the popular tourist destination Blue Lagoon Thermal Spa.
A few kilometers northeast of Grindavik is the eruption site. 3,800 people live in the seaside town of Grindavik, which is located 50 kilometers (30 mi) southwest of ReykjavÃk, the capital of Iceland. Even though these individuals were already evacuated in December of last year when the volcano began to erupt, some of them were evacuated once more on March 17, 2024, after returning home.
