The meeting was attended by the leader of the opposition in Sri Lanka, Sajith Premadasa, the chairman of the Sri Lanka-South Korea Parliamentary Friendship Association, Dayasiri Jayasekara, the deputy chairman of the state's education ministry, Aravinda Kumar, and the treasurer, J.C. Alavathwala. Samintha Kularatna, the acting secretary general of parliament, took part in the occasion as well.
In his remarks, the ambassador from South Korea stated that he hoped to give Sri Lankan students greater chances to pursue higher education in South Korea in the future. In addition, he said that the Ministry of Education and Universities will support the holding of a Korean Education Fair in June.
The State Minister for Education declared that more Korean language instruction must be offered in Sri Lankan schools, along with the resources required to make this happen. The envoy from Korea stated that future facilities will be given if needed.
The leader of the opposition, Sajith Premadasa, expressed gratitude to South Korea for the job opportunities it is offering to Sri Lankans and mentioned that his father, the late Ranasinghe Premadasa, had prepared the "Kum Udava" program by following the same policies as Park Chung Hee, the president of Korea at the time.
In addition, there was much discussion on the impending elections in South Korea. There were discussions about enhancing the two nations' bilateral ties, and the speaker emphasized the necessity for the South Korean government to set up training programs for Sri Lankans in the future.
