Special bomb disposal equipment was gifted to the Sri Lankan government by the Chinese government.

The Chinese Military Grant Scheme has given the Ministry of Defense in Sri Lanka special explosive ordnance disposal equipment.

 

on March 13, 2024, the Army Headquarters' Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Vikum Lianake, and Ambassador Qi Chengkong of the People's Republic of China graciously accepted a gift of special explosive ordnance disposal equipment to the Sri Lankan Army.

There was an official signing ceremony between General Kamal Gunaratne and Qiu Sengkong about the equipment supply documents.

As a formal handover to the Army Chief, the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense received 18 REOD 4000 Medium Ordnance Disposal Robots, 18 REOD 400 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Robots, 10 Explosive Blankets, 10 Explosive Protection Bearings, and Vehicles.
