Eight Tamil youngsters were set free after they stopped Tamils from praying at the Vedukunarimalai Adishivan temple, according to Parliamentarian Charles Nirmalanathan.
Eight people were taken into custody by the police on the morning of March 19, 2024, while participating in Shivaratri prayers at the Vedukunarimalai Adishivan Temple.
In this instance, the arrest (19.03.2024) in the Parliament would be protested by Tamil MPs.
Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition, took part in the demonstration and voiced his disapproval.
"After our protest, the court has released all eight people," said Charles MP, speaking to the council. This is a win for Tamils, he declared.
