Volker Derk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, has urged action against persons who are really believed to have committed grave abuses and violations of human rights in Sri Lanka.
He urged the Sri Lankan government to take responsibility for its actions by opening investigations and bringing legal action against those who have violated human rights and committed economic crimes.
Additionally, he urged the Human Rights Council's member nations to take appropriate legal action against individuals who are alleged to have violated human rights in Sri Lanka within the framework of international and global law.
