Vadivelu is celebrated by his fans as Vaikaipuyal. Introduced to cinema by Rajkiran, he continued to hone his skills and build an empire of his own. He stayed away from the cinema due to some issues and made a re-entry with Naai Shekhar Returns. Vadivelu is busy with Mamannan, Chandramukhi 2, and Marisan.
Among the best comedians in Tamil cinema is Vadivelu. He was paired in minor roles with Senthil and Kaundamani during their prime, having been introduced by Rajkiran. It was also the time when Vivek was growing up. Vadivelu thus had to thrive in a challenging competitive climate. Vadivelu, though, had no fear of anything. He continued to work and made good use of the possibilities that were presented to him.
Vadivelu, in particular, made people laugh in his comedy by making fun of himself. In the same vein, he behaved without ego around Vivek. Consequently, his growth continued to be healthy. In part due to aging, Goundamani and Senthil gradually started to distance themselves from the movie industry.
Vadivelu made good use of that vacuum. He formed his own comedy team and performed stand-up. Thus, in the early 2000s, his development happened at a rapid speed. There were no movies out then without him. Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu garnered praise for his unique and inventive approach to every comic scene, even though he has acted in numerous movies. Owing to several panchayats and crises, he avoided the movies.
In some way, panchayats were resolved, and Suraaj returned with Naai Shekhar Returns. The movie was a failure. He acted in the movies Mamannan and Chandramukhi 2 before moving on to Mareesan. Vadivelu and Suraj are constantly on the same wavelength. Even now, the comedic sequences from the films that were released simultaneously, Marudamalai—remain timeless.
In this instance, during a recent interview,Director Suraj revealed a lot about the film Marudamalai. "I told Vijay the story of Marudamalai first," he said in the interview. He reached the point of offering an advance, suggesting that you should direct this movie, after hearing the entire tale. He considered producing the movie himself as well. Vijay is overjoyed to hear the tale.
Producer Thanu was offered a film named Sachin by Vijay, while I was waiting to direct Marudamalai alongside him. Then it dawned on me: I'm going to play a romantic lead. He stated he will call you after the movie was over and walked away. I added that there isn't an issue. Subsequently, the film Talai Nagaram was launched and quickly gained popularity. Mohan Natraj contacted Ajith two or three days after the movie's premiere, asking if he had any stories to share.
I also shared the Marudamalai story I had told Vijay with Ajith. He listened to the entire narrative and then paused to reflect. The reason was that Ajith was filming "Kreedam," a movie in which he played a police officer, at the time. He was therefore reluctant to reprise his police duty. After hearing Oskar Ravichandran's narrative, you are asked to choose a hero, and I chose Arjun. That's how the film Marudamalai was created," he remarked.
