The Mexican Navy personnel were participating in a routine training exercise when the helicopter lifted off from a battleship stationed in the Gulf of Mexico on March 6, 2024. During the exercise, the aircraft suddenly lost control and fell into the water. The ship's rescue crew then hurried to the scene.
Three soldiers died in the helicopter. 3 people were rescued alive. 2 people are missing and rescue teams are engaged in the search for them, the Mexican Navy said.
Additionally, the Navy has stated that the incident is being looked into. The families of the troops who perished in the helicopter tragedy have received condolences from the Army.
