Vigil in Muthur, Sri Lanka for the release of prisoners in Vedukunari Hill, Sri Lanka.

Vavuniya: On March 18, 2024, a vigil was conducted in Mudur early in the morning to protest against the prohibition of Shivratri Puja worship and to demand the release of eight people who were detained during the worship at Vedukunari Hill Shiva Temple.

This awareness walk, which began at Muthur Main Road and ended at the divisional office, was organized by the unified civic groups of the Trincomalee district.

The demonstrators chanted and waved signs calling for the release of those who have been detained.

Following this, they proceeded to the Mudur Divisional Secretariat and gave Divisional Secretariat Executive Officer M. Alauddin a Magajar.
