Amidst the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine (15.03.2024), Russia is conducting elections to select the country's next president. This election will take place over three days in a row, through the 17th.
Voters can't wait to cast their ballots at the polling places. Voting is being held for the first time in Russia and some of the annexation territories of Ukraine.
Putin is predicted to win again and serve a fifth term as president, despite the election being a four-way contest.
Every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., votes will be taken. Soon after tomorrow's last round of voting concludes, the votes will be tallied and the outcome declared. It is said that the victorious candidate would take the oath of office in May.
Vladimir Putin, the current president, is a candidate for reelection. In addition to him, the field also includes Vladislav Davankov of the New People's Party, Leonid Slutsky of the Nationalist Liberal Democratic Party, and Nikolai Kharidonov of the Communist Party. These groups back the policies of the Kremlin.
